Leesa Diaz

Is the Business Manager’s Secretary, Purchasing Director and Director of the EDGE (Ralls ISD Mentoring Program).

 

She has been with Ralls ISD since 2003.  She is married to Jerry Diaz and they have 3 children, Harley, Storm and AJ. 

She takes pride in being the Business Manager’s secretary and Purchasing Director.

The Finance and Operations Office values efficiency, collaboration, its supportive role and transparency. We are committed to excellence by serving the financial and operational needs of the District in the pursuit of providing resources to educate our students.

It is our vision to be efficient. We define efficiency as utilizing our resources to add value to the District based on data, continually striving to reduce operating costs and being recognized by independent organizations as financially sound.

 

It is our vision to be collaborative. We define collaboration as communicating information with our team and community in order to make the best decisions. We are here to support our students and staff as well as parents and the Ralls community.

 

It is our vision to function in a supportive role. We define support as contributing to a positive campus learning environment, maximizing business function processes, responding to requests in a timely manner and serving as a source of pride for our community.

 

It is our vision to be transparent. We define transparency as maintaining a website with pertinent information desired by the community in order to foster trust, responding to public information requests and being accurate in all interactions with District personnel and the community.

 

Leesa is also very proud of the work done at the EDGE every day. 

Ralls ISD Mentoring Program is dedicated to providing rural at-risk youth with the support and resources that will help them develop into productive, responsible, and successful citizens focusing on consistent, long-term, well-supervised relationships with mentors that can yield a wide range of tangible benefits for the community.

The Goals of the EDGE are:

1)    Reduce the number of teenage pregnancies

2)    Reduce the behaviors involving illegal use of drugs and alcohol, violence, and other criminal or gang related activities

3)    Reduce the behaviors involving disciplinary action at school

4)    Increase the number graduating students attending a school of higher learning

5)    Improve scores in the areas of academic core classes

6)    Improve scores and bridge gaps in the areas of the state assessment

7)    Improve attendance

8)    Increase participation in community service projects

9)    Reduce the number of drop outs

10) Increase the number of low student-to-mentor ratios

11) Increase the frequency of contacts between students and mentors

12) for job training

 

Leesa’s Primary Purpose at the EDGE:

Oversee all mentoring operations on all campuses, building site, and personnel.  Coordinate with campus administrators and applicable staff to ensure student success through mentoring.

Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive mentoring program as laid out in the EDGE Policy and Procedures manual.  Utilize the mentoring resources available for best practices.

Provide recruitment, training, and managerial oversight to the mentors/mentees for all campuses. Design or provide academic as well as pro-social curriculums to further student success.

To dedicate time and resources to provide youth with the support and assets that will help them develop into productive, responsible, and successful citizens focusing on consistent, long-term, well-supervised relationships that can yield a wide range of tangible benefits for the community.

 

 

Would like to become involved at the EDGE?

 

The mentoring program needs volunteers that are willing to spend time weekly with either an individual child or a small group of children.

 

The EDGE has two programs areas of need:

 

 One-on-one Program

 One on one weekly mentoring activities for the school

year on a school campus

 Afterschool Program

Small group skill training /

weekly mentoring activities one hour per week

 for a period of four weeks
